SSEX BBOX Wants to Take Family Photos, of Every Kind of Family

Families come in lots of flavors, from pairs to trios to larger groups. And members can have lots of different sorts of relationships between them.

SSEX BBOX, the fantastic documentary-in-progress about sex-positive culture around the world, is looking for folks to take a photo of their family and send it to them, along with a  description of how everyone connects. Check out the info below and pass it on!

Hello friends,

Family Portrait Project
Please send all submissions and/or questions to
Based on the idea of classical family portraits the [SSEXBBOX] team is looking to put together an international photo series that highlights the new evolutionary paradigm of relationship dynamics. We would like you and your “family to take a photograph and briefly explain to us how y’all relate to one another.

Need more inspiration? Think American Gothic, traditional wedding photographs, family reunion photographs, quinceanera photographs, Paris is Burning: House of Xtravaganza and House of Ninja, Flintstones meet the Jetsons, and the Cosbys in a blender with a splash of queer fairy energy, ice, and a dash of creativity.

The [SSEXBBOX] team is anxiously awaiting to see what you and your family come up with.

All photographs must be 300dpi
Please include up to 30 words for your brief description.
Deadline August 15, 2011
Please send submissions to

Thank you for your continual love and support.

[SSEX BBOX] Magazine is 64 full color pages of extraordinary photography, insightful interviews, and moving personal narratives about the queer community. The magazine is 5.5 x 8.5 inches on 100lb Glossy Paper in full color.
