Now Available: Vegan Condoms!

For quite a while now, vegan folks have been asking for condoms that aren’t made with casein, a milk derivative. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to offer anything. There was one brand that was casein-free, but they didn’t want to become vegan-certified, perhaps in order to leave themselves the option to change their formula. Another brand came from the UK and was prohibitively expensive.

So we were thrilled to discover the new Glyde condoms. They come in a regular version, a flavored version, and a slimfit version (49mm in diameter instead of the 53mm of the regular version). According to Glyde, casein isn’t necessary and a vegetable-based substitute can be made from the thistle family. Their condoms are registered with the Vegan Society in the UK and are totally vegan-friendly.

Of course, you’ll want a lubricant to go with that, since lube makes condoms feel better and more effective. So check out these great choices:

As a former vegan, I know how frustrating it can be when you can’t find acceptable substitutes that don’t include animal products. Fortunately, you don’t have to choose between safer sex and using animal products anymore. Go celebrate with someone special. 😉
