Lesbian Erotica & BDSM Guide Win Independent Publisher Award (IPPY)

It’s positively delightful when sex writers are acknowledged for their works. This year the Independent Publishers Book Awards have recognized two outstanding books that we adore at Good Vibrations.

Congrats goes out to our friends Em & Lo and DL King, whose books 150 Shades of Play and The Harder She Comes both took home medals at the Independent Publisher Book Awards!

The “IPPY” Awards, launched in 1996, are designed to bring increased recognition to the deserving but often unsung titles published by independent authors and publishers. Since the inaugural contest over 4,500 books have received IPPY Awards, and all the recognition, credibility, and increased sales that a book award can bring. Independent spirit and expertise comes from publishers of all sizes and budgets, and books are judged with that in mind. The Awards are owned and operated by Jenkins Group, a publishing services company founded 1988 and located in Traverse City, Michigan.

The Harder She Comes, a collection of Butch/Femme erotica, was awarded a Gold Prize in the Erotica category. Get ready to pull back the covers for a peek as some of the baddest butches and flirtiest femmes going hot and hard in The Harder She Comes. In this sizzlingly sexy collection focusing on the butch/femme dynamic, editor D.L. King gathers together stories with a sizzling intensity to leave you breathless. Featuring the erotic imaginings of some of the most talented writers of the genre (Sinclair Sexsmith, Evan Mora and Rachel Kramer Bussel, to name a few) The Harder She Comes delivers a jolt of electricity that will super-charge your sensual fantasies into overdrive.

150 Shades of Play took home a Silver prize in the sex category — which is their 69th category, naturally! If Fifty Shades of Grey has whetted your appetite for kinky play, but you don’t know how to indulge your newfound curiosity, sex and relationship gurus Em & Lo spell out everything you need to know in 150 Shades of Play: A Beginner’s Guide to Kink. A literal “A to Z” of tips, tricks and ideas on BDSM and other forms of inspired erotic play, Em & Lo cover everything from what and what NOT to use to restrain your partner, how to safely spank your sweetie and DIY bondage materials for the budget-conscious kinkster. Full of hilarious yet helpful illustrations and approached with the signature humor and charm of Em & Lo, 150 Shades of Play will have you well on your way to exploring this intensely erotic form of pleasure play. The book is also included in Em & Lo’s Shades of Play Kit!
