Inside the Quickies: Filmmaker Interview with Kristi Anderson
An interview with Kristi Anderson from “After Midnite Bedtime Stories ”
Good Vibrations is proud to present the 2013 QUICKIES Erotic Short Film Competition on Friday, December 6th at the Castro Theater.
Filmmaker Bio: Kristi Anderson
Born in Stockton California, Anderson graduated from San Francisco State University in 1974 and moved to Paris to marry her French lover. There she opened a used bookstore and English tearoom called Tea & Tattered Pages. She ultimately divorced the Frenchy but stayed in France, where she developed “After Midnite Bedtime Stories.”
Tell us a bit about your film. What’s it about? And what inspired you to create it?
I was in a sexually intense relationship with Laurent and while we enjoyed watching erotic/porno films I found the erotica wasn’t stimulating enough and the pornos too up close and personal. We would talk about what women would like. After Midnite Bedtime Stories started taking form.
Seven minutes or less is a pretty tight limit. What are some of the challenges in creating a short erotic film?
Finding a stimulating story which ends with a happy orgasm…..that’s a challenge.
What’s your background in film or in making erotic films? How does making an erotic film differ from making a non-erotic one?
I have absolutely no experience in film making. The closest thing is that I was account executive in an advertising firm so I knew commercials.
In non-erotic films you don’t have to worry about hard cocks and orgasms.
What do you hope audiences will get from your work?
That erotica is here to stimulate us and that is normal and good. Above all for the women who, until now, have been afraid of stimulation.
Who are your performers, and how did you meet them/invite them to participate?
First let me explain that our quickie « The Russian Cougar’s Last Roar » is actually one of five « stories ».
For the « Last Roar », well, for Catherine the Great at 60 was easy, it is me and I easy to find and willing to participate.
Alex who is Rimsky I found by a Craiglist ad in London and after a Skype interview I hired him.
As for the other stories, I found a Spanish man by the same ad. The production company found two women and one male performer.
I sent the concept and scripts to all potential performers so they would understand the concept.
Were there any funny or unexpected moments while filming?
There were so many that I don’t even know where to begin ! Oooh I wished I had thought of doing a « Making of ». We did one week of filming and we had laughs, tears, and hugs,
Just one example, I didn’t think to ask the women if they were waxed completely. Well , they were. And I don’t think Anne of Auistria was waxed…so we painted pubic hair. It worked great.
What projects are you working on now/next, and where can we find you?
I want to continue the Royal Romps series but I am also looking to do some modern « After Midnite Bedtime Stories ».
I really wanted to do the series « Made in France » but being a woman working alone and American….it is just too difficult so I am thinking about coming back to California. But you can always find me at Oh-la-la-productions.com !
