Grow up, please!

Unless you’ve been avoiding the news for the last few days, you’ve probably seen how some of the media folks have been mocking the folks who want to send tea bags to President Obama in protest over taxes. (Here’s an example.) And while I think that sending tea to the president in order to try to evoke the Boston Tea Party seems rather pointless, I also think that it’s ridiculous to mock people because they don’t know that they’re inadvertently using a word for a sexual act.

The whole thing reminds me of a group of 12 year olds teasing the one kid who doesn’t know what some word means. “What? You don’t know what a clitoris is? <maniacal laugh>”It’s one thing to see that on the Daily Show, which is on Comedy Central, after all. But to see it on msnbc.com is just pointless. Don’t they have anything better to do?

Yes. Teabagging also means “to suck someone’s scrotum.” There’s a whole lot of sexual slang out there and I’m willing to bet that nobody knows all of it. Now, can we get on with our lives?
