Good For You, Good For the Planet

These days, there’s lots of news about eco-friendly products. But did you know that there are also environmentally friendly sex toys?

Over the last few years, a new segment of the sex toy industry has blossomed. More toys and lubricants are being made out of higher quality materials than ever before. Lynn Comella, a professor at UNLV and researcher, has written a lovely article about this shift.

When information about phthalates (the chemicals used to soften plastics, which were commonly used in sex toys) came out, Good Vibrations was one of the first companies to widely question the safety of these ingredients and advocate for better materials. We were also the first company to discontinue these products. Eventually, the toy industry got on board and many manufacturers have phased them out entirely. Of course, not all toys contained phthalates anyway. Silicone dildos, for example, don’t contain phthalates since they’re not plastic.

But there’s more to making toys that are friendly to the environment and your body than that. We’ve created our Ecorotic® Green Sex Toys collection to highlight the toys and other products that have a lower impact on the environment and are better for you. We’ve got vegan condoms and lubricants, toys made from glass or sustainably-harvested wood, rechargeable vibes, and organic lubricants. We even have a solar powered vibrator and one that you charge up with a hand-crank. (Very useful if the power goes out or during the zombie apocalypse!)

So if you’re looking for a way to green up your sex life, check out our pages and find your new favorite toy!
